DCC: programming & CVs

Complete reference from the published LX-U DCC manual.

Program in direct mode

The documented software supports CV writing and reading in direct mode on a programming track. Select this mode on your command station; this manual does not promise programming on the main. Follow your command station instructions for address assignment and keep other vehicles off the programming output used for the test.

CV table for software 1.10

This table transcribes the published reference. “Default” means the documented factory setting, not a reading from your board. CV17 and CV18 jointly encode a long address; the 1–9999 address range is not a value to write directly into each CV.

Brightness and start-up effects

CV50 delays all outputs in 0.5-second steps: 0 means no delay, 2 means 1 second. CV54 sets the fluorescent-lamp effect duration in the same 0.5-second steps; its default of 4 is approximately 2 seconds. CV52 and CV53 each select one of 16 brightness levels. Level 0 is described as the lowest brightness, not as a guaranteed off command.

Operating modes and function numbers

For CV150, the manual lists 0 = no start-up effect, 1 = fluorescent-lamp effect, 128 = continuous light when travelling forward and 192 = continuous light when travelling backward. CV152/153 use these modes for the end lighting. CV150 applies to both internal LED circuits. CV151 is not part of the published settings table. Mapping CVs 140–144 use values 1–12 for F1–F12.

CV142 and CV143 discrepancy

The printed table maps CV142 to SSL-B and CV143 to SSL-A. The explanatory prose reverses A and B. The reference above marks the table mapping but does not present it as a device-verified correction. If switching differs, record the CV values, function key, direction and actual illuminated output and contact support.

Change addresses and reset deliberately

Short addresses use CV1; long addresses use CV17/18 and CV29. Use the address-setting function of your command station. Reading CV8 should return 69 according to the manual. Writing to CV8 resets all CV registers, so record your settings first and do not use a reset as a casual read test. The published sheet does not specify a particular reset write value.
