Variants and manual version

31027 is yellow, 31028 white and 31029 warm white. The published manuals describe 16 LEDs, software 1.10 and hardware 2.00. This manual version does not establish the firmware on every older or repaired board. If behaviour differs, check the board marking and, where readable, CV7.

Electrical specifications

For the warm-white 31029, the manual gives 14 mA at the dim setting and 34 mA at the bright setting. Connect the board at IN A/B; eleven marked cut positions are documented. Built-in buffer capacitance differs between product documents, so no guaranteed hold-up time is inferred here.

First operation on address 3

The default short address is 3. F1 switches the interior lighting, F2 the FX output and F5 the bright/dim setting. The direction-dependent end lighting is controlled by the FL light function. Use DCC with 28 or 128 speed steps for this feature; the manual excludes 14 and 27 steps.

FX: switched ground

FX is a low-side switch: it switches ground. The manual describes a 5 V load of no more than 50 mA; FX is not simply a switched positive supply. For larger loads, it refers to the FSV 90301 amplifier. Follow the relevant drawing and check the load before connecting it.

SSL and buffering

The SSL output is documented for one to three 90401 end lights. SSL+ is the common anode; SSL-A is the white channel and SSL-B the red channel, with documented fitted series resistors of 3 kΩ and 7.5 kΩ respectively. C-EXT is the connection for the listed 90201 and 90202 buffers. The square pad marked + is positive.
