Variants and limits

LX-U Poti variants are 31017 yellow, 31018 white and 31019 warm white. The manual specifies 16 LEDs, constant brightness from 5 V AC/DC, a maximum of 25 V AC/DC and average current below 45 mA. Dimensions including components are given as 275 × 8 × 3.2 mm. Brightness is adjusted with the potentiometer.

Contacts at cut points

Use the drawing for your actual board to establish the orientation. The five contacts have different functions; only 1 and 5 carry track power.

Brightness and mechanical fit

Turn the potentiometer gently with a suitably small flat screwdriver and very little force. Its travel is limited. Cut only on the marked lines between contact rows and avoid solder bridges. The manual describes joining contact 2 to 2 and 4 to 4 when using two connected sections; this is not permission to feed track power to a cut-off section. Check such a modification against your board before proceeding.

Buffer and tail light

The manual shows approved buffer capacitors 90201 and 90202 on the designated pads or contacts. Observe polarity. For two red tail-light LEDs on contacts 2/4, it specifies a series resistor, with 560 Ω as an example. This arrangement differs from the built-in resistors on 3001X and the SSL outputs on the DCC version.
