Troubleshooting & support
Focused checks for lighting, flicker, decoder operation and fit.

No light
Switch off power before making any changes. Check the article number and correct IN connection first, then pickups, wiring, solder joints and possible contact with a metal roof. On potentiometer boards, carefully increase brightness. On LX-U DCC, check the address and F1; the documented unchanged factory address is 3. Stop using the board if you notice abnormal heat or smell and have it checked.
Lighting flickers while moving
Check wheel-to-rail contact, pickups, wire connections and mounting. A buffer can bridge short interruptions but does not replace reliable current collection. Its effect depends on load, charge state and interruption duration. Do not confuse the intentional DCC fluorescent start-up pattern with contact flicker; CV150 and CV54 control that effect.
Lights work but CVs cannot be read
Working LEDs do not prove successful decoder communication. Confirm that the board is an LX-U DCC and select direct mode on the programming track. Record the command-station model, software version, speed-step setting, exact error and the CV you tried to read or write. If communication still fails, contact support. A failed read alone does not establish a defective board or a particular command-station fault.
No response after changing the address
Check whether the command station is using a short or long address and whether it matches CV1 or CV17/18/29. Use the command station’s address programming function instead of writing the long address number directly to individual CVs. Record values before and after the change. A CV8 reset erases customised settings, so perform it deliberately.
Unexpected end-light direction or key
First check DCC 28/128 speed steps and the FL light function. Record CV152/153 and the observed direction. The manual has conflicting A/B labels for CV142/143, so also report which physical output and colour respond. Do not rewire by guesswork.
Information that helps support
Send the article number, photos of both board faces and connections, coach manufacturer and model number, supply or command station, programming mode and a precise description of the symptom. State whether the board worked before installation, whether it was shortened and which accessories are attached. For order or return enquiries, include the purchase reference or dealer when contacting support. Keep payment details out of photos.
